Introduction

TeachModo ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services designed for teachers, schools, and districts.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using TeachModo, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address, name, and password (which is securely stored). If you use Google login, we receive basic profile information from your Google account as permitted by your settings.
Educational Context: We collect information you provide about your teaching environment, such as subjects taught, grade bands, school role, and any classroom or school context you choose to share.
User Input: When you interact with TeachModo, we collect the messages and files you provide in order to generate responses and resources.
Usage Data: We collect basic data about how you use the service, including frequency of use and feature usage. We use analytics tools to understand user behavior and improve the product.
Device Information: We automatically collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, and device type when you use our service.

How We Use Your Information

Providing Services: We use your account details, teaching context, and messages to deliver our core service, including AI-generated teaching materials and workflow assistance.
Service Operation: We use technical data to operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
Service Improvement: We may analyze de-identified or aggregated usage patterns to improve product quality, reliability, and user experience.

Data Processing and Sharing

AI Service Integration: We transmit relevant prompt information to third-party AI providers, including OpenAI and Anthropic, in order to generate responses. Those providers process information according to their own commercial privacy terms and policies.
No AI Model Training: Information you provide is not used by us to train public AI models, and we use commercial API arrangements intended to avoid customer content being used for model training.
Third Parties: We do not sell your personal information to third parties or use it for third-party advertising. We use providers such as authentication, analytics, cloud hosting, and email services to operate the product.
Service Providers: We may allow trusted third-party providers to process personal information only as needed to perform services on our behalf.

Data Storage

TeachModo is operated using third-party cloud infrastructure. Depending on the service or provider involved, your information may be stored or processed outside the United States.

If you contact support, our team may access account metadata such as subscription status, feature usage, and basic profile details in order to help you. Our support processes are designed so staff do not need routine access to the substance of your classroom conversations.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and educational context for as long as your account remains active.
We retain message history so you can reference past work and continue conversations over time.
You may delete your account and associated data through the TeachModo UI, or request deletion by contacting us at support@teachmodo.com.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take security seriously and work to reduce risk.

Children's Privacy

TeachModo is designed for teachers, school staff, and other educational professionals, not for direct student use.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
Because TeachModo is intended to support teachers, we recommend that users avoid entering personally identifiable student information into prompts or uploads unless their school has specifically approved that workflow.
If you believe sensitive information about a child has been shared and should be removed, please contact us at support@teachmodo.com.

U.S. Privacy and Education Context

If you are a U.S. teacher, school, or district, you may evaluate TeachModo in light of laws or frameworks such as FERPA, COPPA, SOPIPA, or applicable state privacy laws. TeachModo is intended to be used in ways that avoid unnecessary student personal information and support responsible school adoption.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is legal advice. Schools and districts remain responsible for evaluating whether their intended use of TeachModo complies with their own legal obligations and internal policies.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or request a copy of your personal information. To exercise any privacy request, contact us at support@teachmodo.com.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, product, or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the policy.
